This post should easily be called: The One Piece of Gear We Never Knew We Needed.
I truly mean it.
We recently tested merino wool kidswear from Iksplor. After several camping trips in the spring and summer, we realized that merino wool clothing is the perfect adventure gear for year-round use.
Why? Let me tell you all about it.
The merino wool kidswear we tried, and this review is about:
- Kid Iksplorer Set β I ordered size 5T for our 5-year old and it fits perfectly. Thanks to the extended sleeve with the thumbholes, it will fit for quite some time.
- Baby adventure zippy β I ordered 12-24 months when our son was 15 months and although thereβs still plenty of room to grow into, it fits nicely without having to fold the hands and feet.
- Iksplorer beanie β the beanie is quite stretchy and fits snugly; weβll definitely use it in winter under the hockey helmet.

What we love about Iksplor Merino Wool Kidswear
1. Less packing
- Camping pyjama? Check!
- Early morning warm clothes? Check!
- Cozy campfire clothes? Check!
- Comfortable hiking clothes? Check!
Itβs basically 4-in-1βno need to pack several pieces of clothing, as merino wool layers cover all the bases.
A big relief for me personally was not having to look for or buy warm pyjamas. I know the first layer at night is the most important to keep you warm, and Iksplor merino wool layers delivered!
2. Non-itchy
This was an important feature I was a bit worried about. I had several merino wool layers before, and not all of them were comfortable. But adults can still deal with a bit of discomfort.
But uncomfortable kids are a whole new level of craziness.
Iβm happy to report none of my kids were uncomfortable because Iksplor Merino Wool Layers are very soft and non-itchy.
3. For warm and cold weather
When we went camping, we changed the kids to merino wool layers in the late afternoon. They were warm once the temperature dropped; merino wool layers kept them warm throughout the night and into the chilly morning.
Once the sun rose high and warmed up, kids continued to play in their merino wool layers, thanks to their fantastic body-regulating properties.
They were warm in cold weather and cool in warm weather. Not having to change them constantly is a big win for every parent.
The only change we made was putting beanies on at night. Iβm glad we finally found beanies that stay on heads throughout the night and keep the kids warm, without making them sweat.
4. Resell value
As for all the kids’ gear that I invest in, and kids grow out of it way too fast, Iβd like my dollar to stretch as far as possible.
Merino Wool clothing has a high resell value. Once kids grow out of it, you can easily βget some money backβ by selling it through Facebook Marketplace.
