Mountain biking is a wonderful activity available for all ages. And if you live in Calgary, there are many options to ride and improve your skills.

Calgary has become a great city for all riders – from tiny balance-bike beginners to adults chasing flowy trails and technical lines.

Over the last several years, the city, community associations, and Parks Foundation Calgary have built a network of asphalt pump tracks, dirt pump loops, and full bike-skills parks across neighborhoods so you don’t have to travel far to practice balance, build confidence, or have a family ride that ends with a snack bench and a playground.

Below, I feature nine bike parks and pump tracks you can find in Calgary, what makes each one special, where to park, and what skill level they suit.

Let’s get to the details about each bike park and pump track in Calgary!

South Glenmore Park Bike Pump Track — large asphalt pump track & bike skills area

Location: between Glenmore Reservoir and 90th Avenue SW (closest parking lot is here), ride towards the reservoir and then turn right.

Why go: South Glenmore’s pump track is one of Calgary’s flagship asphalt tracks — it’s designed with a separate 110 metres long beginner line and a 204 metres long advanced line that can be linked for longer laps, so families and more experienced riders can use the same space comfortably. The layout provides flowing rollers and berms that are ideal for practicing pumping and cornering.

Features: dual tracks (smaller kid loop + longer advanced line), hangout area, close to Glenmore Reservoir trails, there are picnic benches but no washroom (closest are at the Variety Spray Park during the season or porta potties at the South Glenmore Park Parking Area right next to the spray park).

Skill level: from balance-bike beginners (on the tiny loop) up to intermediate riders on the longer line.

West Confederation Bike Pump Track — asphalt pump track

Location: SE corner of West Confederation Park off 19 Street NW (street parking is free and right next to the pump track, location is here).

Why go: The pump track is comparable to South Glenmore, and it has both intermediate and advanced lines, so it’s excellent for progression.

Features: intermediate + advanced tracks, seating, good connections to pathways, and there are a couple porta potties .

Skill level: beginner to advanced, depending on which loop you choose.

Inglewood Bike Pump Track — compact and perfect for quick sessions

Location: near 7th Avenue and 20th Street SE, closest parking is at Inglewood Bird Sanctuary (connect via Bow River Pathway for 1 km).

Why go: Inglewood’s pump track sits along the Bow River and is a handy, compact place to practice skills. It’s smaller than South Glenmore but very popular with kids.

Features: small asphalt loop(s), very accessible from 9th Ave SE/Inglewood area, easy to combine with a longer ride to Harvie Passage or Peace Estate Park via Bow River Pathway, nearest washroom is at the gas station Centex (you can buy a snack and use their washroom).

Skill level: best for beginners and intermediate.

Fairview Bike Pump Track — the first paved track in Calgary

Location: 7800 Flint Rd SE (in Flint Park); there’s a very small parking lot right next to the pump track, or another parking is here, a short ride away from the pump track.

Why go: Fairview’s pump track was Calgary’s first asphalt pump track built in June 2020. It’s well suited for beginner to intermediate.

Features: asphalt pump track, there’s a park bench but no washroom close by, there’s a playground in the same park.

Skill level: beginner to intermediate.

Montgomery Bike Skills Park — wooden features and a paved pump track

Location: 1907 MacKay Rd NW, the nearby parking lot is here.

Why go: Montgomery combines wooden skills features (small teeters, rollers), flow lines, and a paved pump track – a nice mix for learning technical lines but also suitable for kids and newer riders.

Features: wooden features, paved pump loop, playground nearby.

Skill level: beginners to intermediate riders looking to try small technical features.

Silver Springs Pump Track — dirt pump track

Location: 209 Silver Ridge Close NW, parking is by the community centre here.

Skill level: beginner.

Fish Creek Mountain Bike Skills Park — multiple small loops and a skills area

Location: 153 Ave SE, the big parking lot is right by the bike park here.

Why go: Located near Calgary’s huge Fish Creek Provincial Park trail network, the Fish Creek Bike Skills Park is compact, with beginner dirt pump loop, intermediate pump options, and single-track skills loops — a great place to transition from skills practice to the wider natural trails.

Features: beginner dirt loop, intermediate pump options, singletrack skills loop, public bathroom is at the parking lot, easy to combine with a longer ride to Annie’s Café or extensive trails across Fish Creek Park.

Skill level: beginner to intermediate.

Chestermere Family Bike Park — family-friendly adventure just east of Calgary

Location: 333 West Creek Drive, Chestermere, there’s free street parking.

Why go: Just a 20-minute drive from southeast Calgary, this park is worth the short trip. Built for all ages, it includes dirt jumps, skills features, and a mini pump track for kids.

Features: Multiple dirt jump lines (small to large), all kinds of runs – beginner, intermediate, advance, expert; separate beginner section, pump track and technical features, shaded and not shaded picnic benches, porta pottie on site.

Important note: The bike park is free and volunteer-run in great shape – therefore, it’s closed if it rains or the weather forecast calls for rain, so as not to damage the trails. Check here or here before you go to avoid disappointment (hopefully they do update riders in time).

Skill level: All levels.

Tip: Combine it with a visit to Chestermere Lake for a perfect day trip.

WinSport Bike Park — lift-access riding and advanced progression

Location: Canada Olympic Park at 9609 1 Ave SW, big parking lot.

Why go: WinSport’s summer bike park is Calgary’s hub for gravity riding. It’s the only lift-accessed park in the city, making it ideal for riders who want bigger jumps and downhill flow.

Features: Machine-built trails ranging from beginner flow lines to expert jump trails, wooden drops, berms, and tabletops. Also offers lessons, rentals, and youth camps.

Skill level: Intermediate to advanced (though beginner-friendly trails are available).

Tips: Check seasonal hours — the park operates mainly in summer. Helmets required; full-face recommended for downhill trails.

My experience at Calgary pump tracks

Our go-to is West Confederation Park where our 5 year old feels the most comfortable.

When we go for a longer family ride along the Bow River, we always stop at the pump track in Inglewood as a nice break-up point with a flowy ride and a picnic.

I personally also like the pump track at South Glenmore where I usually stop while riding the loop around the reservoir.

The Fairview pump track looks steep to me and maybe better suited for intermediate riders and those who’d like to practice jumps, and I’m none of those.

My absolute favourite is Fish Creek Mountain Bike Skills Park because I love riding on dirt and really enjoy the nice pump track as well as trails around to practice my turns and riding on rocks.

I love that the city and communities built so many amazing pump tracks so our whole family can progress in biking skills. Since it’s one of our top ten things to do with kids in Calgary, we ride from May to November usually.

While we haven’t ridden at all bike parks and pump tracks listed above, I’ll add more photos once we do.

How to choose the right spot for your ride

  • For kids & beginners: Silver Springs, Inglewood, South Glenmore (small loop)
  • For skill progression: Montgomery, Fish Creek
  • For speed & flow: South Glenmore (advanced loop), West Confederation
  • For jumps & advanced riding: Chestermere Family Bike Park, WinSport Bike Park

Happy riding!
